Don't Worry (If there's hell below) is a classic song. Mayfield was on another level along with Isaac Hayes. Their musicianship set them apart from Green and Gaye. If Jehovah resurrects them and if I make it, I can only imagine what songs of praise to Jehovah they'll concoct.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

FaithfulWitness, remember wben Jesus was fasting right after being baptized? Remember, he hadn't eaten for over a month and was at a vulnerable state physically speaking. The Devil paid him a visit, and one of the temptations Satan threw at him was the taunt for Jesus to turn stones into bread satisfying his physical needs. Jesus rebuked him and set an example for us saying, "Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth." With that said, he provided an illustration giving us the admonition to be concerned about our spiritual health in the same way we do so with our physical health.
Our field service time only provides a snapshot of our spiritual health, similar to how a physical examination provides a glimpse into our physical health. In both cases, further and more in depth analysis still needs to be done to ascertain a more concise portrait of one's health. As far as being examined by someone else, it benefits us in the sense that they can see what we cant or choose not to see. Besides they've been entrusted by Jesus to guide us along in these troublesome times. 1 Pet 5:2-4, Jude 22, 23;

Thank you for your reply. Your answer is interesting. Can you explain to me what you mean by "spiritual health?"
Well, in the same way that the condition of a person's physical health is improved through exercise, a Christian's spiritual health is maintained through staying busy with theocratic activities. (2 Tim 4:2, 4) You may remember the old saying, "if you don't use it, you'll lose it?" Well, the same can be said when it comes to one's spiritual health, and the best way to determine that is to examine their efforts, or lack there of. (James 2:14-16)

Keeping track of how the literature is dispensed goes a long way towards avoiding waste. That way the WT can adjust where appropriate to fit the needs of the public and avoid waste and unnecessary labor by the volunteering Bethelites. It also provides the Circuit Overseer a general idea of how the publishers are doing on an individual and congregational level. I've always likened an individual's time card as a medical record in the sense that when the Circuit Overseer visits, he can review the overall spiritual health of individual publishers and the congregation. While the timecard doesn't provide an entire picture of a publisher's health, it does provide enough of a snapshot to assist the Circuit Overseer in providing assistance to those that really need it.

Field Service is what you make it. That's about the best I can say about it.

Why do so-called believers need my approval or that of any atheist?
by Band on the Run inrecent posts from those who may mistakenly consider themselves "believers" demand a safe haven in this forum.
they don't like associating with atheists or someone like me.
of course, there are hundreds of thousands of sites for christian discussion already set up on the internet.

Ok, so I missed Bohm's thread, and so it shows that it goes both ways. What I've seen since I've been on here as of late, is an almost compulsive like need for non-believers to get involved in discussions involving believers clearly for believers. So, the believers do the same to the non-believer threads. I don't get the why? I mean it's understandable if the thread is designed for debate between both believers and non-believers, but why does one side feel the need to get involved when it's not supposed to involve them? It's like showing up for a party you clearly weren't invited to.

Something I don't get is, and I'm asking question from neutral position not taking sides with the atheist or believing crowd here on JWN. My question, why do atheists feel the need to jump into every discussion clearly not meant for them to take part of? I realize that it's hypocritical of me to ask that question considering I'm on an apostate forum, but I don't believe it invalidates my question. It's a given, that if a believer initiates a thread requesting feedback from other believers, one of the non-believers on this forum will feel obligated to throw their two cents in, thereby ensuring a flamefest. Often when the non-believer abruptly enters the discussion, they'll say something snarky and condescending towards the believer in a conscious or possibly unconscious effort to belittle the believer personally, or their beliefs. I just don't entirely get that. Why jump in a thread or discussion clearly not meant for you and then feel offended when they don't agree with your position? It makes me wonder if some of the atheists on this forum are going above and beyond in an effort validate their own beliefs, or lack of belief.

WTS overboard w/suggested presentation
by doinmypart inthe nov 2013 km contains an article that is ridiculous in its level of minutae.. they focus on the word "because".
they tell jws to use the word "because" when explaining why they're at the homeowner's door.
writing department, you wrote an article on the use of the word "because"?

You know, I'm almost at a loss for words with this thread. All it is a simple suggestion for publishers to consider when looking to engage someone in conversation after showing up to their home anannounced and unexpected. This suggestion along with two demonstrations will be covered this week at the Service Meeting. Keep in mind it's only a ten minute part, just a fraction of the total amount of items to be discussed at the meeting. Let you folks tell it, its all we're going to review at this meeting. I can only imagine how much of a complaining spirit some of you had when still in.

Home schooled witness kids
by stillin insorry if i'm stepping on any toes here, but i haven't seen anything positive about home-schooling...at all.
the notion is that parents are taking advantage of the formative years to inculcate more worthwhile values while protecting their kids from worldly influences.
they end up with lazy, socially inept, illiterate duds who haven't a clue.

I guess it all boils down to how much a Christian parent is willing to allow their child to be exposed to worldly influences. I mean on one hand you can't hide your children from the world any more than you can get off of it. Plus you want your child to have at least some level of interaction so as not to be socially awkward. At the same time both public and private schools are basically the breeding grounds for modern day Phillistines and Caananites. So it's really a tough decision to make.

James 3:13-18
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
It goes without saying that verses 17-18 don't apply to JWN.
